Rachel Griffin

Hello and thanks for visiting my website! I’m a PhD candidate and lecturer in law at Sciences Po Paris. My main research interests are social media regulation, platform governance and digital justice. My PhD research (supervised by Séverine Dusollier and Beatriz Botero Arcila) analyses how EU social media regulation (especially the DSA) addresses structural social inequalities, drawing on feminist legal theory, critical race theory, and law and political economy.

Alongside Beatriz Botero Arcila, I am a co-principal investigator of the research project ‘Delimiting Systemic Risks in Social Media Governance: Putting the DSA Into Practice’, which launched in April 2024 with grant funding from the Project Liberty foundation. My research in the context of this project will focus on the politics of risk in the Digital Services Act, analysing how systemic risks are defined, constructed and prioritised by key stakeholders. I am also a former visiting fellow at the Hertie School Centre for Digtial Governance and a founding member of Sciences Po Law School’s law and technology research group.

I’m always happy to talk about my research – feel free to reach out to me at rachel.griffin@sciencespo.fr.
